What are the local attractions?
The Catalonia region is renowned for its gastronomy and there are several Michelin starred restaurants throughout the region. The locals are justifiably proud of this and eating out is one of the major pastimes. To go with the food there are many wineries in the area and a visit to one of them is a very enjoyable experience. They are also very proud of Salvador Dali who was born here and the museum they have created in his honour in is worth a visit. There are some amazing churches with the Esglesia de Santa Maria in the picturesque village of Cadaques top of the list. Girona itself is a beautiful city with a history dating back to pre- Roman times. There are numerous places to visit and its an ideal place to take a walking tour with one of the local guides. The historic town of Pals is a good place to spend an afternoon.

The legendary three Michelin starred El Celler run by the Roca brothers has been voted the worlds best restaurant and you will need to book well in advance to get a table and enjoy some of the most original food anywhere. Girona has numerous bars and restaurants that offer great food at more reasonable prices and the Old Quarter is a lively place at the weekends. The seaside Resort of LLoret de Mar is packed in Summer with visitors lured by the sun and the evening entertainment on offer. It’s the party capital of the Costa Brava with scores of bars and restaurants lining the main strip.
