Considered a gem among Algarve golf courses, the 18-hole, par-72 Salgados Golf Course attracts seasoned players from all around the world. Located on the flatlands behind the sun-kissed sands of Praia de Galé, just a 10-minute drive from the centre of Albufeira, this course challenges players with a mix of various water hazards and a prevailing ocean breeze.

Located just a 30-minute drive away is Albufeira’s sister town, Vilamoura. Here you can find plenty of exceptional courses, including the internationally recognised, Vila Sol Golf Course. Managed by the Pestana group, the 27-hole course is set in 75 acres of natural beauty, winding through a pine forest typical of inland British courses and surrounded by captivating art sculptures.

True to its name, the Dom Pedro Golf Old Course is one of the oldest golf courses in Vilamoura. Originally designed by Frank Pennink in 1969, the course features lush, tree-lined fairways and a traditional parkland style. It’s a firm favourite among those golfers who appreciate traditional golf course design, challenging play and picturesque scenery.

The main beach, Praia dos Pescadores—also known as Fisherman’s Beach—stretches approximately 225 meters, offering fine golden sand and crystal-clear waters. For those seeking a more tranquil spot, Praia dos Alemães on the town’s eastern side provides the same golden sands as Pescadores but with a more relaxed atmosphere.

The Strip: If you enjoy nightlife, then look no further. A popular destination for Albufeira is as famous for its nightlife as it is for its beaches. In the Montechoro area of town, expect to find a bustling strip vibrant with clubs, bars and eateries.
