Alwoodley is one of Yorkshire’s finest golf courses and regularly appears in any list of the top 50 courses in the UK. Designed by renowned golf architect Alister, the magnificent clubhouse allows you to tread in the footsteps of past golfing greats.

Moortown Golf Club is another brilliant Mackenzie design. It hosted the first Ryder Cup to be played in Britain in 1929 and has hosted numerous tournaments since then. It’s one that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

In the same area as Alwoodley and Moortown, you’ll find yet another Mackenzie design: the delightful Sandmoor Golf Course. Shorter in length, it’s a hidden gem – full of challenging holes that require strategy rather than brute strength.

Moor Allerton is a 27 hole complex designed by Robert Trent Jones – the first course he designed in Britain. It’s quite American in design – an undulating course with large and tricky greens – and offers an interesting contrast to the other courses in the area.
