Costa Dorada lies South of Barcelona in Catalonia and it mainly runs along the coast line. There are numerous Resorts offering beach style holidays alongside the shallow and calm waters. Tarragona is the main city and there are various antiquities from the Roman period onwards that are worth a visit. There is a Roman amphitheatre and nearby is the Les Ferreres Aqueduct. There is also a splendid 12th century cathedral in the city centre. Salou and Cambrils are well known holiday destinations offering sea and sun holidays without being over commercialised. The theme park Port Aventura is close to Salou and it is Spain’s most popular theme park. There are nearly 40 different rides to enjoy including the amazing Shambhala and Dragon Khan roller coasters.

Salou has some of the best nightlife in the area with the Koko Beach club one of the most popular night clubs. The House of Illusion puts on a dinner show most evenings at a reasonable price and is worth considering for a night out. In Tarragona the main square the Placa de la Font has several different restaurants offering cuisine form all around the world as well as several popular bars. Whilst Cambrils is not as well known for evening entertainment as it’s a Resort that is more popular with families there are still some interesting places to visit. The area around the Marina and the Promenade as well as the beach bars are popular spots.
