About Club de Golf D’Aro-Mas Nou, Girona

The Club de Golf D’Aro-Mas Nou is one of the oldest courses in the Costa Brava having opened in 1990 and is set in the middle of the Les Gavarres nature reserve 300 metres above sea level with stunning views of the Costa Brava, with most holes offering views of the sea.

Opened in 1990 and designed by Ramon Espinosa, the course is surrounded by thousands of olive, pines and oak trees. For example there are over 1000 olive trees on the property. This par 72 course is over 6000 metres long but due to the altitude the ball really flies and its a satisfying to be able to take two clubs less on every shot. It has hosted several professional tournaments including the Catalonia Open and the Martini Tournament however  its variety of teeing areas means it offers a fair challenge to golfers of all abilities. The large greens are protected by well placed bunkers and two large lakes which are home to a  variety of wildlife in the area make Club de Golf D’Aro-Mas Nou a great place to play. It is an undulating course so it might be better to take a buggy.

There are excellent practice facilities including a 9 hole pitch and put course, driving range and short game area. The driving range has 10 covered and 27 uncovered spaces so is the ideal place to hone your game and there is an excellent golf school offering tuition at reasonable rates.

The clubhouse is a converted Catalan farmhouse that was originally built in 1870 and it has been sympathetically modernised to provide a comfortable and welcoming retreat after the round.

Golf d’Aro is about 35 minutes form Girona and just over an hour from Barcelona and about the same distance from the Airport at Perpignan.
