Tucked away in the Arrábida region south of Lisbon, Quinta Do Peru Golf Course offers a quieter, more secluded alternative to the busier coastal layouts on your Portugal golf holiday. The setting feels a little more contained, surrounded by natural woodland, which gives the course a calm, almost private atmosphere.
For those planning a Lisbon golf trip but looking to include something less exposed and more relaxed, Quinta Do Peru fits neatly into the mix.
About Quinta Do Peru Golf Course
Style: Parkland | Length: 6,020 m | Par: 72
Designed by Rocky Roquemore and opened in 1994, the course moves across gently undulating terrain lined with pine and cork trees, alongside areas of natural wildflowers that add variety across the round. It has been recognised as one of Portugal’s top courses in the European Golf magazine rankings, which reflects both its design quality and consistency.
The opening stretch gives a clear sense of what to expect, beginning with a par 5, followed by a solid mid-length par 4 and a well-guarded par 3. Early on, the short par-3 8th stands out, with a lake positioned directly in front of the green, asking for a controlled approach.
The back nine gradually becomes more demanding. The 12th, a relatively short par 4, is shaped by water running alongside the fairway and towards the green, while the 16th is often considered the toughest test on the course. At around 200 metres, this par 3 requires a full carry over water, which can feel more exacting than the yardage suggests.
Quinta Do Peru has also hosted events on the European Challenge Tour, adding a level of competitive credibility to what is otherwise a relaxed and welcoming club environment. The overall experience is shaped as much by the setting and atmosphere as it is by the layout itself.
