About Montado Golf Course
Montado Golf Course was opened in 1992 and was designed by Duarte Sotto – Mayor. A large renovation project was undertaken and the course was redesigned by Jorge Santana de Silva and reopened in 2006 and is now one of the hidden gems of the Lisbon area. New tees and greens were incorporated into the original design and It’s a par 72 of nearly 7000 yards so it is no walk in the park but as it is relatively flat it is easily walkable. Situated around 30 minutes from Lisbon Airport to the South it is reasonably close to Setubal in the Costa Azul.
The surrounding countryside is dominated by the region’s famous Muscatel vineyards which have been there for over a century. and the course has made the most of the large oak trees, streams and lakes that occur on the property. The fairways are wide and there is water in play on several holes with some spectacular water features providing an attractive backdrop to the course and the large greens are usually in very good condition.
It is always good to have a special finishing hole and the eighteenth here is one you will definitely remember. It’s a par three of around 165 yards and the tee shot requires great accuracy as the target is an Island green. A par here definitely deserves a beer in the modern refurbished clubhouse after the round.
There is a golf academy on site with very good practice facilities including a driving range putting and pitching areas.
Also on-site, there is a modern four-star Hotel that has 93 bedrooms and if you are looking for a resort with quality accommodation, a good and interesting golf course as well as some of the worlds finest wines then the Montado Hotel And Golf Resort is for you.
