Colin Montgomerie designed the course at Marrakech Golf City which is close to the city centre. It opened in 2014 and has quickly established itself as one of the best courses in the area. There are no tricks in the design it’s just a good quality course that is usually in excellent condition.

The renowned American Architect Cabell Robinson has produced a championship-quality course at the Amelkis Golf Club. There are 27 holes and it has been the host course for the Moroccan Open emphasising the quality of the layout.

Another American Kyle Philips is responsible for designing the Al Maaden Golf Club and he borrowed from the Oakmont Club the design of the Church Pews bunker which he has reproduced on the 18th Fairway. It’s definitely to be avoided but will stick in the memory.

Yet another American but this time one of the world’s greatest golfers has designed the Samanah Golf Course. From the back tees, it is over 7000 yards and has a challenging par of 72 but there are several teeing grounds so you can reduce the course to less than 6000 yards if you want to take it easy.

The Royal Golf Club is one of the oldest in Morocco and was extended to 27 holes in 2007. It’s very traditional in design with strips of green fairway winding through palm, eucalyptus and olive trees but still providing a very fair test of golf.
