The Palm Golf Ourika is one of the newer Moroccan courses having opened in 2015 but it has quickly established itself as one of the top ten courses in the Country. Playing from the correct tees is an important element of enjoying your round as some of the carries from the championship tees are a test.
Noria Golf Club is roughly seven miles from the centre of Marrakech and has a challenging par 72 from the back tees which makes the course over 7000 yards long. It’s another course that would be classed in the top ten courses in the Country.
Al Maaden Golf Club is a Kyle Phillips design that from the back tees stretches to over 7000 yards and opened in 2010. There are 5 different teeing grounds to play from so whatever your ability you can enjoy a Championship course. The fairways are reasonably wide but it’s important to find the right part of them to give yourself the best angle into the green.
Samanah Golf designed by Jack Nicklaus is similar in that there are sufficient teeing grounds to make the course accessible to all standards of players. It’s a typical Nicklaus design with wide fairways but greens that are protected by clever placement of bunkers. It’s fairly flat and has great views of the Atlas Mountains in the background.
The Royal Golf Club is next door which originally opened as a four-hole course in 1927. It’s now 27 holes with nine holes floodlit for evening play. The fairways are lined with palm trees and natural vegetation. It has an excellent driving range and a renowned golf academy.
