The Tony Jacklin Golf Course Marrakech

Designed by one of Europe’s greatest golfers Tony Jacklin in association with the well-known golf architects Stirling & Martin the Argan course is relatively new but already is being regarded as one of the best courses in the area. Marrakech is the centre for golf in Morocco with over a dozen courses to choose from and those choosing to play this one won’t be disappointed.  Within easy travelling distance of the bustling City Centre of Marrakech, it’s the ideal place to discover some peace and calm after experiencing the unique atmosphere of the City.

There are 27 holes here with an 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole par three course. The main course has been designed very much with playability in mind but it is still a challenging test for golfers of all abilities. It’s a par 72 extending to 7000 yards from the very back tees. However, there are much easier ways of playing the course from the variety of different teeing areas available and from the yellow tees it comes down to a more manageable 6000 yards. The course is relatively flat and the opening hole which is a par five gives a good idea of what is to come. With a slight dogleg right with bunkers waiting to catch the stray drive and a green that is also protected by bunkers on both sides you can see all the hazards before you with no hidden surprises. The second hole is a par three where the green is protected by a lake which almost surrounds it. Without a doubt, the hole you will remember is another par 3 the sixteenth where an Island green reminiscent of the famous seventeenth at Sawgrass provides a challenging and scary tee shot.

As well as the par three course to get you game in shape there are excellent practice facilities including a driving range short game practice area and for those seeking help a very good golf school. No expense has been spared in the design and build of the clubhouse and it’s a great place to sit and view the distant Atlas Mountains with a beer in hand whilst you relax after a hard day on the golf course.
