About Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech Golf And Country Club, Marrakech

Golf breaks to Marrakech should be at the top of every golfer’s bucket list. Some of the world’s greatest golf courses have been built on land that lends itself to golf course design and the Designer has just followed the natural landscape. When you arrive at The Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech Golf & Country Club you could be forgiven for thinking that is the case here. However, tons and tons of earth have been moved on what was fairly flat land to create a superb-looking course that fits extremely well into the surrounding countryside. The American Architect Cabell B. Robinson has done a fantastic job sculpting the terrain and the planting of shrubs, flowers and trees has enhanced the naturalistic look and made it one of the most attractive courses in Morocco.

The course opened in 2013 and from the back tees the course extends to 7200 yards with a par of 72 and has extensive views of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. The fairways are generous but if you do stray offline then you can quickly find yourself in the vast waste areas. It’s a course where strategy rather than pure power is required a prime example being the short par 4 third hole. There is water all the way up the right-hand side of the fairway with the green tucked away behind it. It’s only 350 yards so the power player may be tempted to go for it and try to carry the water whilst the more conservative player will take a safer route and have an easier shot into the green. There are five lakes on the course which come into play on several of the holes.

The course has very good practice facilities with a driving range, putting green and chipping area. There are numerous bunkers on the course so time spent practising on that aspect of the game will be worthwhile. The Clubhouse has been designed to cater for all that you need for a memorable days golf and amongst the facilities are a large swimming pool and an exercise room.
