About Golf De Pierpont
Golf de Pierpont is about 15 minutes from Waterloo where there are two Martin’s Hotels. There are two golf courses on-site, the Championship Le Grand Pierpont and the 9 hole par three executive course Le Petit Pierpont.
The resort opened in 1992 and the courses were designed by Johan Van Heel who made the most of the undulating landscape. They were then revised and upgraded in 2011 by Bruno Steensels and a major investment was made in introducing more shrubs and trees. The renovation work has produced the results needed and it has hosted the European Seniors Tours and many national tournaments. The clubhouse is a former 17th century manor farmhouse and makes an ideal spot for a post round beer.
The Championship course is a par 72 and from the back tees it is nearly 7000 yards long but there are several teeing areas available so that you can play the course most suitable to your abilities. Its relatively flat and the fairways are reasonably wide so its not the most challenging of courses from the tee but the numerous bunkers have been skilfully placed to challenge golfers of all abilities. It’s a very enjoyable course and gets a lot of repeat business. There is a ‘linksy’ feel about the course with excellent drainage producing fast dry fairways. There are one or two water hazards on the course but they can easily be circumvented.
Le Petit Pierpont is an excellent addition to the resort as although it’s a nine hole par 27 of around 1200 metres its clever design means that it is suitable for all players from beginers to players of all handicaps.
There are excellent practice facilities and Golf de Pierpont is a great place to spend a day.
