Tenerife Golf Holidays

Fancy a winter golf break? Or perhaps a bit of summer sunshine along the fairways? Well Tenerife has you covered all year round.

With average highs of 21 to 22 degrees in the winter months, and up to a scorching 29°C at the height of summer, Tenerife has the perfect climate for a golf holiday. The only problem is, with so many great courses, it’s a little difficult to know where to start.

Where to Spend a Golf Break in Tenerife

Across the island you’ll be able to find a number of courses and places to stay to suit all budgets. Most holidaymakers settle themselves towards the south of the island in proximity to Costa Adeje and Playa De Las Americas, two destinations which have been holiday hot spots since the 1970’s.

You’ll find plenty of fantastic accommodation here, to suit a variety of budgets. There are Michelin-starred restaurants on offer, mouth-watering cheap eats, and a number of places to try the best local cuisine. And all of this is within a short drive from four of the best golf courses in Tenerife.

A little further north is Buenavista del Norte, a much quieter stay offering a real Canarian experience. The area has a rugged coastline and a fabulous course to play, designed by Seve Ballesteros.

Tenerife Golf Courses

The Buenavista golf course is a truly unique course in Tenerife and is located a 75-minute drive from Costa Adeje and Playa De Las Americas. Even if that’s not where you’re spending your Tenerife golf break, it’s well worth the drive and offers a great challenge when you’re driving along the back 9.

Abama Golf, a little closer to the holiday hotspots has dramatic views over the Atlantic with the course reaching a high point of 315 meters. Hazards including 22 lakes provide plenty of challenge, while waterfalls and palm trees make it one of the prettiest to play on the island.

Back in town, in the very heart of Playa De Las Americas is Golf Las Americas, ideal for those just wanting to stroll up from their hotel. It’s a course that features water heavily, so it’s well worth bringing a few extra balls ahead of playing this 18.

What Else To Do in Tenerife

Tenerife is one of the most interesting and intriguing islands in the Canaries. It’s the largest of the group and the Teide National Park – a World Heritage Site in fact – is like stepping onto a different planet. The park is the site of the Pico Viejo volcano, which has contributed to an array of unique flora and fauna that are well worth exploring.

Out towards the coast there are plenty of beaches and water sports to enjoy, with the sands often set to a backdrop of bars to cool off in.

Siam Park is a novelty which needs to be enjoyed; it’s the island’s biggest theme park and the real thrill seekers will love the Tower of Power slide, plummeting you down a near-vertical 90ft drop.
