The Golf Courses In Devon

There are over 50 courses in the County ranging from traditional links to lush parkland designs so there is truly something for everyone. There are two outstanding courses at Saunton Golf Club which are true links in design as is the Royal North Devon course which is still probably better known as Westward Hol Golf Club. If you prefer the parkland style, then it’s hard to beat the Bovey Castle Resort. Set in the picturesque Dartmoor National Park the course has been regularly improved over the years and is now an outstanding course that shouldn’t be missed. Dartmouth Golf Club would be amongst the top ten courses in the county as its one of the toughest tests and has some memorable holes. There are two golf courses at Woodbury Park with the Oaks course being not only a Championship test but also providing some spectacular views of the picturesque Devon landscape.

As a leading holiday centre there is no shortage of accommodation especially in the area around Torquay. Most of the coastal towns have accommodation to suit all tastes and pockets. If you prefer to stay on a Resort with its own golf course, then there is a good choice of properties to choose from. If you want five-star luxury then the Bovey Castle Hotel is one of the finest in the UK and with a great golf course alongside it is hard to beat it. There is a very good alternative at a more economical price at the Dartmouth Golf Club. This is a four-star rated Hotel and with two golf courses on site it’s the perfect place to stay for a weekend break. Slightly away from the main tourist area but close to the town of Plymouth is the three star Effordleigh Hotel which is a very economical alternative to discover the delights of Golf in Devon.
