About Cabopino Golf Course, Fuengirola

Cabopino Golf Club is situated close to the picturesque port of Cabopino in between Marbella and Mijas Costa. It’s a very interesting layout designed by Juan Ligues Creus and has a par of 71 and is less than 6000 yards in length.

The opening holes give a slightly false impression as they are fairly narrow with not a lot of room for a wayward tee shot. However, you get some idea of what is to come at the third hole which is a par four played from an elevated tee. The fairway drops fully 80 meters to the fairway and then the second shot requires an accurate iron to an elevated green that is protected by a large bunker. As well as bunkers umbrella pines are protecting many of the holes. The second nine holes open out to offer more room from the tee and there are some really interesting holes. The par three thirteenth is a classic short hole. It’s only a short iron but the green is protected by water on the right and bunkers on the left-hand side. The fifteenth is another par 3 of about 150 yards but it is certainly one hole you will remember. There is a large lake and bunker to carry onto an elevated two-tier green – making three here is very satisfying!

There are some magnificent views of the Mediterranean from several of the elevated tees and it’s a course where strategy is more important than power. Don’t reach for the driver on every tee but play for position and you will enjoy your round far more.

There is a golf academy and driving range and the clubhouse is a welcoming place for the after-round drink and offers a wide selection of food.

A popular choice for any golfer looking to play in the Costa Del Sol.
