When you choose to stay at the Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort, you are spoilt for choice as to where you can play golf. Here’s some of the incredible courses available in the offer:
Gramacho Golf Course was formerly a nine-hole course which had two teeing grounds to make a different eighteen holes the course was extended under the guidance of former world number one Nick Price and it’s now a par 72 course from the back tees measuring around 6500 yards. It hosted the Portuguese Ladies Open but can be enjoyed by golfers of all abilities.
Alto Golf Club was the last course that Sir Henry Cotton designed and it’s another parkland-style course stretching to nearly 6700 yards with a par of 72. There are tree-lined fairways, several dog legs and well-placed bunkers to make you think rather than just blasting away with a driver. The par 6 sixteenth is one of the longest holes in Europe at just over 660 yards.
Vila Sol Golf Course is a 27-hole complex is ranked in the top twenty courses in Portugal and opened in 1991 designed by the renowned architect Donald Steel. It has held the Portuguese Open in the past and is generally in excellent condition so is well worth playing. The fairways are lined with fig, umbrella pines and cork trees and along with strategically placed bunkers the course is a very entertaining challenge.
Vale Da Pinta Golf Course is a par 71 course that stretches to 6600 yards from the back tees and settles in extremely well to the natural landscape. Full use has been made of the rolling terrain and the local vegetation with several different types of trees lining the fairways and along with man-made obstacles you need to be on you’re A-game to play well around here.
Along with very good golf courses and the fact that for a five-star hotel all-inclusive is offered a golfing holiday at the Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort is well worth considering.
