About Alferini Golf Course, Marbella

Alferini Golf is one of 3 courses that make up the Vila Paderna complex along with Los Flamingos and Tramores, this course is very much a hidden gem amongst the many golf courses on the Costa Del Sol. Although not especially long at around 7000 yards from the Championship tees, if you can play to your handicap and get close to the tricky par of 73 you know you have had an excellent day of golf. Designed by Antonio Garrido and opened in 2007, he has used the natural terrain to craft a challenging and really interesting golf course that is different to many of the other courses on the Coast.

There are five par 3’s on the course including the 16th which is probably one of the best par fives in the area. Accuracy as well as length is required from the tee but like many other holes on the course, the large greens give you a chance to get on in regulation. The greens are usually medium fast and will hold most approach shots. One of the good things about the layout is that there are several different tee positions to play from on each hole so that golfers of all abilities can enjoy this exciting course.

The designer had plenty of land to play with so the course covers a large area of land and for that reason, a buggy is recommended. There is a gentle incline up to the highest point of the course and then it winds gently downhill again although there are not any particularly steep individual holes. There are not many trees on the course and the vegetation is largely scrub and it’s nice to play on a course that isn’t surrounded by apartments or villas. The four-par threes are especially good averaging about 189 yards and requiring accurate tee shots.
