It goes without saying that good golf courses, a plentiful supply of accommodation and the prospect of sunshine golf are necessary qualities for a popular golfing destination. There is another very important element the destination has to be accessible from all parts of the UK. One of the reasons that the Costa Del Sol and the Algarve are so popular is that there are flights from virtually every airport and due to the competition, the cost of the flights are relatively low.
There are many other areas of Europe that offer great golf but as it is not so easy to get flights to them they are not so well known as other regions. They often have to offer extremely attractive packages to get people to go there and the resourceful traveler can get some incredible bargains. The 5 star Montecastillo Golf Resort in the Costa De La Luz is an example. The nearest airport is Jerez which isn’t the best served form UK airports however the tourist board has been working extremely hard to attract more airlines to fly into Jerez and negotiations are at an advanced stage with several airlines and hopefully they will get positive results. Once they do you can be sure that Montecastillo Golf Resort and other resorts around Cadiz will definitely become more popular. They certainly offer great golf courses, a variety of hotels and apartments to suit all pockets and sunshine so thoroughly deserve to become better known as golfing destinations.
Another area that will become increasingly popular for golfers due to better flight connections is Bulgaria. It has one of the world’s great golf courses at Thracian Cliffs and with 2 other good courses at Black Sea Rama and the Lighthouse it should certainly be more popular for UK and Irish golfers. It has previously been difficult for a number of golfers as the best flights to the nearest airport, Varna, have only been from Luton with Wizz Air. For most of those living North of Watford it was at least a couple of hours drive to get to Luton which isn’t the most convenient way to start a holiday. For 2017 there are now flights available from Manchester which will open up the destination to a greater number of people. Once you have sampled golf in Bulgaria I am sure that you will want to go back again!
