Golf Holiday Destinations To Look Out For In 2016!

The Costa Del Sol and the Algarve are still the most popular destination for British and Irish golfers looking to enjoy a better climate whilst experiencing some amazing golf but there are a number of other destinations worth considering for your 2016 golf holiday which might not be on your shortlist just yet…

Costa Dorada

Easily accessible by two airports, Reus and Barcelona, this is worth considering for those who are looking for a Costa Del Sol alternative. There are still a number of bars and restaurants to keep you entertained into the evening but it doesn’t feel as popular as the Costa Del Sol where there is a much larger ex-pat community.

The real positive of Costa Dorada though is the quality of the golf. This region has seen some big investment in it’s courses and facilities whilst the Costa Dorada Golf Association are keen to promote the area which is resulting in some excellent value for money golf holidays.

Our picks to play in this region are the stunning courses at Lumine Golf (both the Lakes and the Hills are exceptional) as well as the stunning Bonmont Golf.

As flight prices to the Middle East continue to become cheaper, this opens the door to experience golf in places that you might have considered out of budget or not easily accessible. One of these destinations is Dubai and if you think you’ve seen luxurious golf courses on this scale before, you need to think again!

As one of the fastest growing destinations for a golf holiday, Dubai have invested heavily in world class courses, hotels and infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of tourists. Some of our personal favourites include both Faldo and Majilis at The Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf Club, and Al Badia Golf Club.

Beyond the golf, many of the hotels offer a wealth of facilities to keep you entertained and there are a number of excursions and activities which you can opt to fit in around the golf such as visiting any of the huge shopping malls, visiting the top of the Burj Khalifa, or even a desert safari!

More suitable for those looking to travel for at least 5 nights due to the long haul flight.

Abu Dhabi

As well as Dubai, Abu Dhabi has also invested heavily in golf and has created some equally stunning courses and hotels. Our pick to play is the Abu Dhabi Golf Club which has a Falcon shaped Clubhouse which you can see in the above picture that is absolutely spectacular! This course is home to HSBC Abu Dhabi Golf Championship which features on the European Tour.

Activities here include visitng the Yas Marina Circuit which is home to the Grand Prix, as well as the sprawling Ferrai World theme park to really get your motor sport fix, whilst those looking for something a bit calmer should visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center.
